A feature just like we have in Desktime - Private Mode (Which disa)

The Private Mode will provide users with a simple way to pause tracking without completely closing ActivityWatch. Once enabled, ActivityWatch will stop recording all activity data (app usage, screen time, etc.) until the user disables Private Mode.

Toggle Private Mode ON/OFF

  • Users can enable/disable Private Mode via:

    • System tray menu (right-click on the ActivityWatch icon)
    • Keyboard shortcut (configurable)
    • Command-line interface (CLI)
    • ActivityWatch Web UI (dashboard toggle)
  • Indication of Private Mode Activation

  • A visible indicator (e.g., a red dot on the system tray icon) will signal when Private Mode is active.

  • Optionally, a notification can be shown when the mode is toggled.

  • Automatic Resumption

  • Users can set a timer (e.g., “Enable Private Mode for 30 minutes”).

  • After the set duration, tracking resumes automatically.
