How to fix mouse double click issue?

Hi everyone,

I’m having a really frustrating problem with my mouse and I’m hoping someone here can help. Lately, my mouse has been double-clicking on its own when I’m only single-clicking. This makes it really hard to get anything done, whether I’m working or gaming.

Here’s a bit about my setup:

Mouse Model: Logitech MX Master 3
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro, Version 21H2
Software: Logitech Options, ActivityWatch
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

I cleaned the mouse thoroughly to make sure there’s no dust or debris under the buttons.
I reinstalled and updated the mouse drivers.
I tested the mouse on another computer (the problem still happened).
I adjusted the double-click speed in the mouse settings.
I tried plugging the mouse into a different USB port.
Despite all this, the problem is still there. I’m beginning to think it might be a hardware issue, but I want to make sure it’s not something I can fix with software adjustments, especially with ActivityWatch or any other tools I’m using.
I’m also try this but https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8511063/how-to-run-jar-file-by-double-click-on-windows-7-64-what-is-cloud-architect still not working
Has anyone else dealt with this problem? Are there any settings in ActivityWatch or other software that might help? Any advice would be really appreciated!

Thanks a lot for your help!

Logitech mice have these problems. I had g203 Lightsync that also double clicked when I single clicked. It is totally a hardware problem. I had to get another mouse to fix the problem which is a bummer since Logitech mice are not cheap. If it is still relatively new, you could try sending it back to Logitech. I did it once, but the mouse went out of warranty when it started happening again.

I’ve had similar problems with my Glorious Model D mouse and my Logitec backup mouse.
If it’s under warranty send it back for replacement/repair. If it’s not, buy a new one. Good mice break really easily - especially if knocked, banged, dropped or even overused.
