Linux Mint intallation. Watchers not starting

I’m new to linux so there might be something obvious that I don’t know about. When I run aw-qt nothing appears to happen, I don’t see a systray icon or anything. It turns out aw server runs and the browser watchers are functioning but both aw-watcher-window and aw-watcher-afk are missing in action. The rawdata tab also reflects nothing coming from these buckets across multiple attempts now. The autostart is working, but I still only ever find aw-server in processes.

There is, however, a crash report for every time it attempts to start. I can’t make head or tail of it though. Help?

After more poking about and finding the logs for each watcher, it turns out that they are starting but are being stopped because “parent process died”.

This Github issue closely resembles my symptoms. The only differences being that aw-server is running fine and aw-server-rust isn’t being used now, and of course I’m using V0.13.2. I tried on a completely fresh OS installation, no change. But trying it on a bootable USB of Zorin Core 18 worked, so probably not the hardware itself at least.

I’m probably not going to keep poking at it here, I’m going to switch to a different flavour of OS, but in case it’s useful, something could be falling over for users of Mint Cinnamon, identical to the report in issue #1033, reproducible on the live boot of Mint Cinnamon 22.3 on the below hardware.
